The poppy bloomed, but it was so heavy it broke the stem ... I had to prop it up to take photos :(

Crocus - the first flowers of spring 2008
Purple lotus love it dirty ... hence the lotus leaves always are dirty. While the purple lotus is much larger as the smaller white and blue lotus shown in earlier pictures, the purple lotus always love it dirty and thus are difficult to make beautiful pictures with all the much and dirt on the leaves. Nevertheless focusing on the beauty of the blossom all else vanishes. Just as looking at a dirty but hard working man or woman - all dirt disappears in the heart of a true lover.
Hard working lotus - converting dirt and pollution into something useful for mankind and creation are like hard working humans. Hard work as an expression of true love!

Best in show was awarded to Matthew Soper of Hampshire Carnivorous Plants and he was delighted.
"This is a very special year, not only because of this award at Tatton Park but it means we have won ten consecutive golds at Chelsea, ten at Hampton Court, ten at BBC Gardeners' World Live and now ten at Tatton Park and best in show. I couldn't be more pleased, it's fantastic!" Well d one to Matthew. I couldn't mention the floral marquee again without letting you know how Medwyn Williams got on. Well, his gold medal record is as unblemished as his prize winning vegetables; another gold for Medwyn and an unbroken record. And to top it off the sun is shining!
